Andrea is a dedicated and experienced therapist at Tristate Psychotherapy Group, licensed in New York and Massachusetts. She received her degree from Yeshiva University, where she developed a strong foundation in mental health principles and therapeutic practices. Andrea's comprehensive training and academic background have equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality mental health services to her clients. She is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
With a diverse professional history spanning over a decade, Andrea brings valuable experience from multiple settings that have contributed to her effectiveness as a clinician. She spent approximately ten years at a domestic violence agency, where she served as lead hotline counselor and ran their transitional-housing program, helping victims of domestic violence find housing and rebuild their lives. She then worked as a counselor at the same agency, providing therapy to children and adults impacted by family abuse, relationship abuse, and attachment wounds, while also leading group therapy sessions. Most recently, Andrea worked as a psychotherapist at Long Island's Family Service League, where she treated individuals of all ages from diverse backgrounds with a variety of issues.
Andrea specializes in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, significant life events, relationship difficulties, grief, self-defeating thoughts, stress, loneliness, overwhelming worries, fears, and trauma. She works with clients of all ages. While she believes there is no one-size-fits-all therapeutic modality, Andrea practices psychodynamically, integrating experiential or cognitive interventions depending on the client's needs. Her approach is influenced by Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and she is trained in the Oaklander Play Therapy model, which enables her to engage skillfully with children. Andrea's therapy involves exploring the client's present experience in the moment during sessions. Her approach is characterized by genuine compassion and deep empathy, qualities strengthened by her own life experiences. She brings a sincere desire to help, extensive learning, and a commitment to continued growth in her work with clients.
